I was craving something sweet and carbolicious this afternoon, so I decided to whip up a batch of protein pancakes! I found a new recipe in June’s issue of Oxygen magazine. This recipe was so simple and it tasted great. I feel like protein pancakes can be hit or miss. I’m not sure if it was the protein powder I used or the simple ingredients, but it was delicious and filling!
Chocolate Banana (protein) Pancakes
- 1/8 cup low fat cottage cheese
- 1/4 cup egg whites- this was about 2 egg’s worth
- 1 scoop of chocolate protein powder
- 1 medium banana- I used a half
- cinnamon to sprinkle on top.
- 1 tbsp sugar free maple syrup- I actually didn’t end up using any. I thought it tasted great without it!
I’ve never made protein pancakes with cottage cheese before but have seen it mentioned in a number of recipes. In order to get rid of the chunks, I blended the cottage cheese, egg whites, and protein powder before cooking. Then, just cooked them like regular pancakes!
Love my Muscle Milk!
After they were done, I sliced some banana on top and sprinkled them with cinnamon.
Anything with protein powder added to it always looks a little funky, but I swear these were really good!! I actually wanted more after finishing these two off..but I resisted!
The nutrition facts in these babies are awesome, too!
- Calories: 330
- Total Fat: 3g
- Dietary Fiber: 4
- Sugar: 16g
- Protein: 46g
These facts include maple syrup and a whole banana so my pancakes might have slightly lower numbers. I’m sure it also depends on the protein powder you use, but the pancake nutrition facts should be somewhere around here, so pretty good!
These would be a great breakfast or if you’re like me, lunch!

These look incredible. Breakfast = best kind of food out there.
I’ve never bothered with cottage cheese in pancakes before either. Think I may need to give it a shot now – since these look so yummy ๐
