24 Weeks

admin · May 18, 2012 · 13 Comments

6 months baby!! That’s so crazy. I have to admit, I thought I’d be bigger at 6 months just because it sounds like you’re so far along. As far as weight gain goes though, I’m on track so that’s all that matters!

Although I don’t look huge, I feel pretty huge. This week my tummy started to feel so stretched out. It almost feels like I ate too much (which I swear I didn’t) and my tummy is so stretched it makes it harder to breath too….which is sometimes a problem. I like to breath :).

I took the plunge last night and ordered a Snoogle pillow. I’m pretty excited about it although I’m sure it’ll take up our entire bed. That’s okay, I bet my husband won’t mind sleeping on the couch for the next 4 months :).

We haven’t taken our 24 week picture yet, but here’s our 23 week pic from last week. I guess technically I did take a 24 week pic of just my belly…my toes are barely showing now (at least from the view up here).

How far along? 24 weeks

Total weight gain: 12 pounds at last Dr. appointment but probably more like 13 or 14 at this point?

Maternity clothes? Yep. Still no upgrade on a bra…I need to do that. I find myself wearing sports bra’s more and more often but even those feel too tight.

Stretch marks? Nope.

Sleep: Been okay. I wake up to use the bathroom a lot now. The other night I got up 4 times! I also started waking up with back and hip pain so hopefully my sweet Snoogle pillow will help.

Best moment this week: I’d say the best moment this week was laying in bed with my husband and having my tummy touch his. He actually felt the baby kick his stomach through mine…it was pretty cool!

Miss Anything? I’m ok right now actually. I don’t feel like the food restrictions are all that bad. They are sometimes…but nothing I don’t get over in a matter of minutes. Like, sometimes I would kill for some salmon sashimi but then the craving passes. That being said, when the baby comes I am hittin’ up some major sushi and wine! 🙂

Movement: Yep! The little lady keeps moving…which never gets old :).

Food cravings: The last few days I’ve wanted runny eggs pretty bad. Kind of random…I boiled some eggs yesterday and ate those instead and they tasted great. No weird cravings though.

Anything making you queasy or sick: Nope!

Gender: GIRL!

Labor Signs: Nope.

Symptoms: Lately just feeling huge. I guess this feeling of my stomach being stretched out is probably because it is being stretched. That’s a good sign though… I assume that means the baby is growing! I also have regular pregnancy symptoms like heart burn, constipation (sexy, I know), and general aches and pains. I take a prenatal vitamin, iron supplements, and vitamin d daily. I don’t love taking supplements but I know my body needs them right now so it’s okay… I’ll live. The iron supplements are brutal because they cause constipation which leads to other problems but it’s obviously better then having low iron levels.

Belly Button in or out? In

Wedding rings on or off? On

Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy!

Looking forward to: Doctor’s appointment next week! I love those now because we always hear the heartbeat which is fun. We’re also getting tested for gestational diabetes which scares me a bit, but hopefully all is well.

Exercise: This week’s been pretty good. My exercise so far has looked like this:

Monday- 30 minute jog/walk

Tuesday– 30 minute walk

Wednesday– Upper body workout.

  • Supersets: cable bicep curls and cable triceps pushdowns, 21’s and triceps kickbacks, cross body bicep curls and triceps dips

Thursday- Lower Body Workout.

  • Supersets– sumo squats and side lunges, curtsy lunge and calf raises, leg extensions and leg presses on machine, then wide legged deadlifts.

So, exercise this week has been pretty good. My triceps are still sore from Wed. and my buns are burning from yesterday-success!

Here’s my belly pic I took yesterday:

bye bye toes!

My feet are slowly disappearing from view!

I’m hoping to get some more workouts in this weekend and get outside some! It looks stormy today but hopefully it’ll clear up.

What are your weekend plans?

I bought my best friend one of those body pillows at Tina’s suggestion and she almost married it while she was pregnant. 🙂

I’m totally impressed with all those workouts! I’d be in bed with Cheet-os. LOL!

I never upgraded on the bra, but definitely went to sports bras! The handfuls have been a life saver.

Glad you’re going to be sleeping comfy 🙂

For some reason bellys always look so much bigger looking down from the our view. I would tell my husband my stomach looked huge and he’d say i was barely showing. You look great!

In reply to your iron supplements comment…I am only 17 weeks along and let my constipation get too bad and well, let’s just say I am now dealing with a very painful but harmless issue that is caused by constipation during pregnancy. I actually have to go see a surgeon about it today because it is so darn painful! So do everything you can to avoid that!!

    Hey Amy!

Have you ever heard of Floradix? It’s an iron supplement in liquid form that is non constipating and safe for women to take during pregnancy. I used to take it myself (I’ve never been pregnant but have had problems with low iron levels…I stopped taking it because iron pills are just more convenient for me right now) and it actually kind of tastes good! I used to take it straight up but you can mix it with juice if ya want.
    Livestrong wrote about it a while back. Here’s the link if you’re interested . . . http://www.livestrong.com/article/392873-floradix-pregnancy/

Anyway, I’ve been reading your blog for a few months now and love it! You are so sweet and I am loving following your pregnancy/life journey! You are going to make a great mommy!

A girl. How very cool. Have the names all picked out?

You take both a pregnancy supplement and an iron supplement? Is this recommended by your doctor. Because pregnancy supplements already have a lot of iron in them. And that causes enough constipation on its own.

yeah its recommended by my dr otherwise i would NOT take iron haha. my iron levels are just too low i guess…so its kinda annoying but it’ll be fine!

no names yet!! guess we should work on that 🙂
