I’m not sure if the title of this post sounds appealing or disgusting…what do you think? Call them what you will-they’re delicious!
I made my first “ball” snack well over a year ago and I really love them! They’re tasty and a quick way to get a high protein snack in when you’re pressed for time. Most ingredients you probably have on hand too. You can also add more or take away ingredients that I used so they’re pretty versatile.
This recipe was inspired by a previous one that I’ve put up before-Schweddy Balls. This time around however, I added a few more ingredients just to mix it up a bit.
Chocolate Covered Protein Balls
- 1 cup oats-ground up slightly. You could probably just leave them unground too or not use them at all if you don’t feel like grinding them up.
- 1/2 cup of peanut butter. I used two different kinds just to mix it up. You could use any kind of nut butter you like though.
- 4 1/2 tbsp of maple syrup
- 2 tbsp of cocoa powder
- slightly less than a 1/2 cup of chocolate protein powder (can omit too)
- 1/2 cup of shredded, unsweetened shredded coconut
These are so easy to make, especially if you aren’t grinding up oats. The first thing I did was…grind up oats!
I just pulsed them a little bit. If you grind them up for too long you’ll have oat flour which isn’t exactly what you want…so just little pulses.
Next, I mixed everything together! Pretty simple! I like to warm up the peanut butter first otherwise it drives me nuts trying to mix it up.
After everything was mixed up, I just rolled them out into little balls!
Yum.
I personally think these taste like little peanut butter cookies…so yes, I am a big fan :). Like I said, you could add stuff to it like dried fruit or chocolate chips or take some ingredients out like the coconut or protein powder if you aren’t a fan. They’re so easy to make and play around with. I like having them around because they’re convenient and high protein, low carb. Most convenient snacks I grab are high carb, so it’s nice to have a change.
They’re also easy to make because you can taste as you go. So, if you tasted them and they weren’t sweet enough, you can just add some more sweetener!
Mmmm… (I’m trying to limit my use of the word “balls” because the jokes are just endless).
What’s your favorite healthy snack?

MMMMMM these sounds delish, even if they involve the word ‘balls” hehehe (hi, I’m a five year old over here LOL)

Would it be inappropriate to say I think I love your balls? 😉
These look so good and even better, I have everything to make them!
