Dark Chocolate Oatmeal

admin · December 16, 2010 · 1 Comment

Dessert for breakfast? Sort of.

So, I have a weakness for, turns out, a lot of things. One of those things…is peanut butter. I was strolling through the grocery store yesterday and somehow hit the jackpot. I saw an incredible variety of flavored peanut butters. This was pretty exciting…but I tried to tell myself “I already have a flavored almond butter in the fridge….you don’t need anymore flavors.”

That is, until I saw dark chocolate peanut butter. Right away I thought of Reese’s peanut butter cups….in a jar. There was no way I could pass this up. I just want you to know I did sit in that aisle for like, ten minutes debating whether or not I should buy it. I knew I shouldn’t…I certainly don’t need any chocolate peanut butter. But man did I want it.

So, obviously I bought it. And obviously, it’s amazing. I had to have it right away….so I mixed it into my morning oatmeal.

I also mixed in flax seeds, half a banana, milk, and cinnamon. It was amazing.

I’m a little concerned that Cliff is out of town….I’m hoping I can have the self control to stay away from the peanut butter…no late night pantry raids! But hey, at least the peanut butter is not horrific for you. That’s the thing though…..it is a “healthy” snack…but it’s still really high in calories…so I’m pretty sure finishing a jar in two days is not that healthy.

All the goodies mixed up:

This was so delicious. The peanut butter is out of this world. I just need to limit myself to 1 serving a day….(which is a tablespoon, NOT multiple spoonfuls). I’m already thinking of other ways I can use this delicious spread…hmm… ๐Ÿ™‚
