Marathon Training: Week 3
Today’s run was a 5 miler at marathon pace. So, for me, I was trying to stay under an 8:20 min/sec pace. Of course, when I went to start the run, my Nike plus was yet again not working. I think it’s actually a problem with my ipod. I’ve had this nano for quite a while and I notice sometimes it skips…almost like a CD skips when it’s scratched. I’m thinkin’ that’s not good. Has anyone else had this problem?
Also, sometimes it turns off and reboots for no reason. I’m just going to keep using it until it’s completely dead. Obviously, this puts a damper on my marathon training. I’ve been meaning to use my heart rate monitor more but out of habit, haven’t done so yet. This motivates me to get on that big time especially since I need to know my running pace.
So, for today’s run, I basically estimated. Here were my stats (more or less….or maybe completely off…I don’t really know?):
- Time: 45 minutes
- Pace: 9:00 min/sec- I’m thinking I may have gone faster than this…but just to be safe, I’ll assume it was at least a 9 min mile.
- Distance- 5.00 miles- again, this could have been further. But I guess I’ll never know…hmm..
- Calories: Let’s go with around 430? At least 400 calories. So somewhere in that range I’m sure…
It definitely makes training more complicated when you’re guessing on your running stats. I’ll get my heart rate monitor fitted correctly and start using it more!
Post-Run Lunch:
After my run, I was debating between making protein pancakes (I LOVE breakfast..a little too much) or leftover “crab cakes.” I decided to compromise and scramble the crab cakes with a couple eggs! Brilliant, I know.
I ate it with some leftover salsa that I made for the enchiladas from the other night.
Besides running, I worked on my facebook page for healthyhungryhappy.com. If you’re on facebook (which I’m assuming you are…) check out my blog page.
I’m still figuring out how this works….so I’ll be updating it and changing it, etc. Hope you like it! If you have any suggestions, let me know!
