I am pretty sore today from the 11 mile run yesterday. My calves, butt, and even my right shoulder are sore. But I’m trying to get back on the training schedule since I blew it this past weekend. So, today’s run was a 3 miler. Not too bad but still wasn’t that pumped for it.
I did get pumped once I convinced my husband to go with me! Well, part of the way at least. He’s not a fan of running at all. Almost every time I go, I throw it out there anyway, “wanna come with me?” He almost always rejects me. Not today folks!
I managed to coax him off the couch away from his “safe zone” (in front of the computer) and onto the Katy Trail. We compromised: he would run with me, but only 1.5 miles (half of my 3) since he was just getting his feet wet.
It was nice having a running partner. Even if that partner looked like he wanted me dead when his run was over. I wasn’t sure if he was just mad at me for dragging him through something so terrible, or if he was on the verge of puking. I didn’t even ask if he wanted to keep going…starting at 1.5 was probably a good call. But even he admits now (a couple hours later) that it felt good to get outside and exercise. Could this be the start of a life of running for him…? We’ll see. Baby steps.
Anyway, these were my stats from today:
Marathon Training: Week 5
- Distance: 3.00 miles
- Time: 25:10 min/sec
- Pace: 8: 19 min/sec
- Calories: 261 (I’ll assume it was more like 200…)
Pretty good, easy run. I really enjoyed (part of) it with a partner. Do you have a workout buddy? Or do you head out for some alone time?
In other news, I received my new Vibrams today (a size larger…I have 1 very long toe). I’m excited to try them out but obviously don’t want to use them for my training (it’s recommended you ease into them). Maybe this weekend on an off day I’ll go for a really short run wearing them. I’ll keep you posted!
