Okay, so “The Final Countdown” always reminds me of Gob (pronounced Jobe haha) on Arrested Development…probably my favorite character.
Anyway, the race is in 4 days! I think it actually hit me last night laying bed (of course, what a convenient time). I started to realize that this Sunday I was going to have to get my butt out of bed at like 5:30, get myself motivated, stretched, and ready to run 26.2 miles. 26.2 miles!! I’ve done it before..but every time I think about it it never ceases to amaze and annoy me. That is a seriously long distance. No matter how many times you’ve ran it, I’m not convinced it can ever be easy.
It’s been quite a journey. I’ve had a hard time, as you know, in the past few months staying motivated. It’s probably tough in general for anyone training for a race to stay motivated when they’re training alone. It’s so much easier when you have a group to rely on and keep you going. But I am proud of myself for getting back into the training after our honeymoon and sticking with it. I completed the longest runs, so hopefully my body’s ready for an even longer run this Sunday!
As I mentioned before, this week is a breeze (which I love!). Yesterday I ran 3 miles and today will be 2. Here were my stats for yesterday:
Marathon Training: Week 17
- Distance: 3.00 miles
- Time: 23:44 min/sec
- Pace: 7:54 min/sec
- Calories: 250
I love how 2 and 3 miles feel so short now!
Today’s my last day of work and tomorrow we leave for Oregon! I bought all my gels I need yesterday and today I’m hoping to practice the art of running and drinking at the same time today! I don’t want to stop at the water stations while running, but I also don’t want to choke so I need to practice drinking out of dixie cups while running!
Today in general is a packing day! We’re almost completely moved out of our place here in Dallas. Besides moving, we also need to pack for Oregon. That means making sure my Ipod playlist is updated too! Any suggestions on good running songs? Maybe I’ll add “The Final Countdown” for a mid run laugh?
Have a great Wednesday!

Ahaha! I love that clip! Okay, this is so weird- just last night my boyfriend was telling me the exact same thing, how whenever he hears the final countdown it reminds him of that!
4 days! You are so ready to kick butt!
