Star Jumpin’

admin · August 19, 2011 · 10 Comments

It’s been a while since I’ve tackled a CrossFit. After doing one today, I remembered why: they are SO hard!

I got up this morning at 5:30 and managed to power through the day with no nap. It wasn’t easy, but with a little (actually kind of a lot) coffee and silent pep talks, I picked a CrossFit and got my buns to the gym. The hubby wasn’t with me today so it was especially hard to stay motivated.

It’s funny how when I’m tired, I tend to pick extremely hard workouts. Yesterday I was well rested and took a pilates class, which was relatively low impact. Today I was running on 5 hours of sleep so I chose a CrossFit. How appropriate.

Anyway, here’s the workout:

5 Rounds (for time…or just try to make it through without throwing up)

  • 400 meter run
  • 30 star jumps

So simple, yet extremely hard.  If you’ve never done a star jump before, allow me to enlighten you:

Obviously, these are really tough, especially after 150. My legs are already pretty shaky so I’m expecting some serious soreness tomorrow.

As much as I wanted to sprint through the workout like a true CrossFitter, I did the jumps 10 at a time, then walked it off a little, then ten more, etc. Thirty jumps in a row would be pretty killer for me especially after the running.

Anyway, it was a great workout!! It actually only took about 30-35 minutes so if you want a relatively short, hard workout, give it a try!

Star jumps! I haven’t heard that term in a while. They are quite hard to do! An old boyfriend of mine use to think he was pretty funny demonstrating them for groups of people. It was actually pretty funny! Happy Friday!

A crossfit just opened in my neighborhood and I am trying to work up the courage to go! I keep finding ways to talk myself out of it. I am SO nervous! Any advice?
