Sorry I skipped yesterday! I got sidetracked by some major Christmas shopping so today you’ll get two posts.
So far, home has been great! I’m always so busy the minute I get here which can sometimes be frustrating, but I can’t complain. It has been a challenge sticking to healthy eats while home. We’ve been eating out like crazy, drinking a bit, and of course, there’s holiday treats everywhere. Overall, I think I’ve done a pretty good job avoiding the really bad foods, but they definitely taunt me. This brings me to Day 7 of the 12 days of (healthy) Christmas..
On the 7th Day of Christmas you gave to yourself…..a grocery shopping spree!
So, this is especially for those people going to your parent’s homes for the holidays. I don’t know about you, but we don’t have the healthiest of options floating around our home. As much as I do like to indulge (and I do), it’s nice to have some healthier foods around to make me feel less sluggish.
Since being home, I’m actually not sure I’ve had any vegetables or fruit (bananas don’t count..either does dried fruit). I did have some avocado in my sushi roll last night :). That being said, I’m heading to the store today to get some fresh fruit/veggies, yogurt, and other snacks.
There’s something about being in someone else’s home (even if they are family) that makes my self control weaken. Having some familiar, healthy foods around will definitely make me (and hopefully you!) feel better about the other not-so-healthy choices which are inevitably going to be made. It will somehow make me feel less off-track.
Besides that, I’ve been doing a pretty good job so far about working out while home. I ran 3 miles yesterday and went to yoga this morning with my friend, which was brutal!
So far so good! The husband comes tomorrow so I’m pretty excited to see him. Maybe I’ll make him run with me :).
If you go somewhere for the holidays, do you go grocery shopping? I have to admit, I wouldn’t do this if I wasn’t at my parents house. I’d feel a little rude doing this at other people’s homes . The bottom line is, it’s the holidays, the last thing I’d want to do is offend or hurt someone’s feelings…not worth it!

I feel like it is easier to eat those junk foods as well. I just recently moved back home until I find a job and I made sure to stock up on the products that I like so I can avoid the other junky things around the house!

Never would be offended if my guest bring food they like and/or makes them feel better. You never know they might introduce me to some new foods. O’yes bring enough for me too. Merry Christmas
