Homemade Chocolate Chip Cookies

admin · January 31, 2012 · 3 Comments

Nothing about this recipe is healthy….just giving you a head’s up. But sometimes, you need real, homemade chocolate chip cookies in your life. This past weekend, I needed them.

I actually had good intentions to cook Paleo chocolate chip cookies, but that flew by the waist side :). Maybe I’ll still try the Paleo version now that I’ve stuffed my face their buttery, sugary cousin.

I found this recipe on Pinterest and the only thing I changed was that I used dark chocolate chips instead of semi sweet. I just love dark chocolate…and it’s healthy right? 🙂

Homemade Chocolate Chip Cookies

(recipe from The Girl Who Ate Everything)

  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, melted but cooled off
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 1 egg
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 2 cups of dark chocolate chips (or semi sweet)

First, I combined the flour, baking soda, and salt in a small bowl.

Then, in a larger bowl, I mixed together the butter, brown sugar, and white sugar. This is the point when I realized this recipe is NOT healthy. Not even close. Paula Deen would be proud.

Next, I added the egg, egg yolk, and vanilla.

Once it was blended nicely, I slowly added in the flour mixture.

Now for the good part: chocolate chips! I slowly mixed these in with a wooden spoon. There was actually a ton of them.

I didn’t have a bite of dough! Aren’t you proud? I seriously think cookie dough is better than an actual cookie. I don’t know why…but it’s so good! I resisted though…it wasn’t easy…but I did it.

I rolled up the dough in bigger than normal balls and placed them on a greased cookie sheet. Honestly, I couldn’t believe I had to grease this thing considering how much butter was in the cookies. I set the oven to 325 and cooked them for about 12 minutes.

Mmmm cookies..

These cookies are amazing. Seriously. If you love chocolate chip cookies or need to making something for a party, give these a try-they’re so good!

There’s probably nothing better than a warm chocolate chip cookie and a glass of cold milk. Mmm.

Somehow, I’ve managed not to eat them all! We still have a couple left. I may have had part of one for breakfast this morning though… 🙂

What’s your favorite kind of cookie? Any good recipe recommendations?
