I’m pretty sure the majority of my blog reader’s are ladies (I know there are a few dudes, so sorry to leave you guys out…but leave your opinion on this post!). Since most of you are ladies and as you know, Valentine’s Day is coming up, I thought I’d try to think up some potential gift ideas for men.
I don’t know about you, but I tend to get gifts, make them, or whatever with a romance theme in mind. It is Valentine’s Day after all. I do think my husband appreciates it but I think it’s hard for me to think of a gift he would want as opposed to a gift I think he should want (AKA something I would like).
For example, for our wedding anniversary I got this cute map that linked all the cities we’ve lived in together. I do think he liked it, but I’m sure I liked it more (it’s so cute!).
(Etsy map..really cute!)
It’s so tempting to do a similar thing for Valentine’s Day which, don’t get me wrong, I know he’d appreciate, but I’m trying to think outside the box. If I was a guy, what would I want more? I do think guys don’t care much about Valentine’s Day because let’s be honest, it’s mostly for women. That being said, he is still getting a gift! So, here are some potential gift ideas for the men in your life:
If he loves his booze (which mine does not so this is out):
(Etsy)
For the guy who loves hittin’ up the movies (and candy ๐ ):

I actually think this idea is really cute. We don’t see movies very often, but we like going. You could put in movie tickets or even DVD’s that you think he might like.
So, I really like the basket idea….I think it’s cute! Here’s another one for the guy who LOVES sports:
I love this! Make a basket filled with his favorite team’s paraphernalia. You could include tickets to a game too if they are reasonably priced. So cute!
For the simple guy (I did this last year). Make him breakfast or dinner:
I made this sirloin steak with yummy mashed potatoes that I found in one of Jamie Oliver’s cookbooks. It was great! I didn’t make dessert though, luckily the hubs bought a mini-cake from Whole Foods and it was amazing.
Guys like to eat (so do girls by the way) so cooking something you know he will like is always a nice gift. It’s a nice, simple way to show you love him.
You could also make a cute dessert. There are tons of Valentine’e Day dessert ideas out there like cookies, cakes, or something I know my husband would like, chocolate covered strawberries.
Here are a couple awesome ideas for the more creative types. I know these require a bit of time, but it’s always fun to put together a homemade present for someone. It can be cheaper and definitely more personal than store bought items. Here are some cute ideas:
Valentine’s Day scavenger hunt:
This gal’s husband sent her on a candy scavenger hunt. When she found the candy, there was a reason for loving her attached to it. So cute!

The same gal (creative couple, I know) made an “On the Hour” anniversary gift for her husband (you could do this for Valentine’s Day though too). It was their 8th anniversary and since it landed on a week day, she sent 8 gifts with her husband to work. He was supposed to open 1 each hour. For example, he opened present 1 at 8:08, present 2 at 9:08, etc.
Since Valentine’s Day has no numerical significance, you could always do like, the 12 days of Valentine’s Day with 12 small gifts, or if you’ve been together for say, 6 Valentine’s Day’s you could give 6 small presents. I think it’s a really cute idea!
Those are just a couple ideas. I think I finally figured out what I’m going to do for my husband (which I won’t give away in case he’s reading this). ย I love thinking about Valentine’s Day growing up. I used to always wear red to school and bring my big bag of Valentine’s for the class. It was always so much fun! I still wear red by the way, you have to!
What was your favorite Valentine’s Day present you gave or received? Any other good ideas?

Thank you for calling us ladies! lol Not sure what I am going to do for hubby this year, he doesn’t normally celebrate Valentine’s Day, but we shall see. I’m going to make him meat and poatoes and homemade chocolates.
