Hey ya’ll! It’s been a while, hasn’t it? The hubby and I have been in California (after the race), then back to Dallas for a night, then on the road to Cleveland. We just got in a couple hours ago! So far, things are pretty good. I guess it’s basically what I thought. I haven’t been here long so I can’t pass judgement quite yet, but this city’s decline is pretty obvious. It’s weird to drive around and see empty buildings and abandoned homes. I’m guessing this area has had a tough time recently.
We drove through a couple disaster areas on the way here, too. Our route took us through Little Rock, Arkansas and then through Memphis. In both areas there is a crazy amount of flooding going on right now so we were put on a detour (the highway was flooded) for about 3 1/2 hours. We drove by some houses that were literally in the middle of water. They looked like houses built in the middle of a lake..it was awful.
I tried snapping some pictures with my phone but since we were moving they didn’t come out too great…but you might be able to get the idea!
It was pretty crazy. I just hope these people can get back to their homes safely.
Anyway, we are here and ready to soak up all Cleveland has to offer! We’re living in kind of weird place… It’s basically an extended stay/corporate housing/senior living/hotel. Yes, I said senior living. We noticed some seniors this afternoon chatting it up in the lobby….it almost looked like a happy hour. Of course, this was around like 3 (ya know, gotta get in bed by 5:30 :). So that’s kind of weird…but I guess it could be worse, haha.
Here’s our home/hotel/senior living:
Tomorrow will be nice. We’ll get a little more settled and hopefully head over to Trader Joe’s. Cleveland has a Trader Joe’s, I’m so excited! Another place I’m excited for is the West Side Market. Apparently, it’s an incredible farmer’s market that features food from all over the world. I first heard about it in a documentary then also saw it mentioned on the Travel Channel. So, I can’t wait to get over there!

It’s only open on certain days, so maybe Monday I’ll go check it out.
You may have noticed my blog’s looking a little different these days…. I thought the old look was “warm and friendly” but kind of amateur (not that I’m a professional). So, I kind of wanted some sort of upgrade. My husband actually put this together for me (he’s a freaky genius) and I think I like the new layout a lot! Originally, the new background was just white which we found to be a little cold….but I think the new brown/tan colors warm it up a little. What do you guys think? Did you like the old layout better? That is, if you remember it :).
I’m also working on a new logo so that should be up soon! Let me know what you think!

Glad you made it safely to Cleveland! Another adventure for the newlyweds. ๐ Hilarious about the senior citizens in your building. I have a feeling you’re going to have some great stories about your new home. Hooray for Trader Joe’s! And I love the new blog design. Looks fab.

I love the new look, the background kinda looks like burlap in a cool way! It’s very pretty and sophisticated! ๐ Regarding blog stuff, to be honest, I wish there weren’t captcha codes required to post comments. I don’t like being tested lol.

Great new layout! What a riot that you’re sorta living in a senior living home…but worth it for the Trader Joe’s nearby, yes?? ๐

Hooray for Trader Joe’s! And you should definitely check out the West Side Market…it’s got some really interesting finds. My favorite are the cannolis that they fill with your chosen flavor while you wait!
How long are you in Cleveland?
Love the new layout, btw ๐
Amy says
Thanks! We’re thinking we’ll be here for about 3 months…are you in Dallas now?
Paige says
Yep! I’m officially a resident of Dallas!
