I had big dreams today of making an amazing looking cookie. So amazing and creative that it would grace the pages of Food Gawker or TasteSpotting. Then, naturally, I would become a world renowned food photographer with so many job offers, I’d have to turn some down. I’d be so successful, I may even be too cool for this blog ๐ (kidding!). My life would basically become awesome overnight.
Well, I don’t think this dream will come true today. I’m not giving up on it yet though! Just need to perfect my craft. My craft that doesn’t really exist…..I’m workin’ on it though! I’ll let you know when I figure out what it is.
This brilliant idea came to me last night when I was checking out the latest food porn added to TasteSpotting (my new favorite website…makes me drool all over my computer). My husband thinks it’s so weird that I just look at pictures of food. I guess it kind of is? But I do have the intention of making some of the recipes I stare at….For example, the one I made today. Check out this beauty-how could I not want to make this immediately?!

I could just spend hours on Picky Palate’s website. She makes some good lookin’ food! Like, yes, oreo stuffed chocolate chip cookies! Ridiculous!
I tried my hand at these bad boys today. First time I’ve had an Oreo in years! They really are so good. I need to stay away…far, far away!
Here are ingredients:
Oreo Stuffed Chocolate Chip Cookies
adapted from Picky Palate.
- 2 sticks of softened butter
- 3/4 cup light brown sugar
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 Tbsp vanilla extract
- 3 1/2 cups all purpose flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 10 oz. bag of chocolate chips
- 1 bag Oreo cookies
First, I softened the butter and combined it with both sugars.
Once all the sugar and butter was mixed together, I added the eggs and vanilla.
In a separate bowl, I mixed together the flour, baking soda, and salt then slowly added that to the wet ingredients.
Finally, the chocolate chips!
Oh, cookie dough, you are so delicious.
I have zero self control when there’s cookie dough around. Apparently, I also have no self control when there are Oreo’s around. I’m like my dog, I keep eating until I feel sick…then I eat some more. Mmm..
Alright, next I attempted the crazy….covering those Oreo’s with cookie dough!
I spooned up some cookie dough and plopped it on one side of the Oreo, then spooned up some more to cover the other side. With my hands, I sealed the Oreo up with cookie dough making sure none of it was showing.
I placed these monster cookies on a greased pan (I think this was my mistake..or maybe they were just too big) and put them in the oven for about 13 minutes at 350 degrees. The original recipe says to put them on parchment paper but I didn’t have any…
These cookies are huge! I may have put too much dough on them.
They’re huge! Those are double stuffed Oreo’s too…large and in charge!
I was pretty pumped for these bad boys. I was only going to have 1..or 5…and the rest were going to work tomorrow with the hubby! They would all be so impressed with my culinary skills! But then this happened:
Mine didn’t turn out quite as pretty…I don’t think they’re Food Gawker material ๐ wa waaa.
So much chocolate in 1 cookie/pancake!
So much potential for these cookies…oh well, I’ll just have to try them again :).
Of course, they still taste amazing! I mean, they are Oreo’s covered in a chocolate chip cookie, how could they not taste good? They just aren’t “good lookin,” but the hubby is still taking them to work! Or they’ll be gone by tomorrow!
In honor of cookies and The Terminator being such a huge embarrassment these days….I thought I’d include a classic video for your enjoyment! Seriously, how was he the Governor of California? And how did he land Maria Shriver in the first place?
Hope you enjoy it!
