I wanted to go BIG on my last workout of 2010. Unfortunately, I had a very late (and huge) lunch yesterday so I was dragging a bit on the way to the gym. But I forced myself though the grueling CrossFit of the day. I figured it was definitely a good way to end the year. Here’s the oh-so-brutal workout:
For Time:
- Run 1 mile
- 100 pull-ups
- 200 push-ups
- 300 squats
- Run 1 mile
Pretty straight forward….also pretty intimidating.
This is how I completed the CrossFit:
I ran 1 mile…no problem. I realized there was NO WAY I could complete 100 pull-ups (or 5) in a row…so I did 20 (on the assisted pull-up machine…again, I can barely do 1 without the help). Next, I did 20 pushups (no knees!) then 50 squats.
I repeated this circuit until I hit 100 pull-ups and 100 push-ups. I ended up on my knees for a good portion of the push-ups.
Finally, I was done with the pull-ups (thank God). So, I repeated the push-ups (20 at a time) then 20 squats. The push-ups got really hard. By the end of it, my arms were pretty much shaking out of control. There were moments I thought they’d give out and I’d face plant into the ground.
But, I made it through! 200 pushups and 300 squats! The squats actually weren’t that bad. Maybe next time I’ll add weight? The push-ups were that bad. My chest is insanely sore today.
The only thing I didn’t finish was the last “run 1 mile.” Both treadmills were in use…and I was pretty tired so I was okay with heading home. It was definitely a good workout! Pretty tough!
We had a great New Year’s Eve. We headed out with a few friends to a block party in downtown Dallas. I was good though-didn’t drink too much! Not hungover today, which is a first when it comes to New Year’s.
I hope you all had a great, safe New Year’s Eve!
