14 Mile Long Run

admin · February 27, 2011 · 8 Comments

The weeks of marathon training are flying by. I guess what they say is true, time flies when you’re having fun! I’m not sure running 14 miles qualifies as “fun,” but at least I’m slowly but surely getting the training done!

I was pretty proud of myself this past Friday when I went out for my long run. I had my friend visiting but decided I was getting my butt up anyway at 6 a.m. Friday to run. I got up at 6:30 (close enough) and managed to complete the 14 miles all before she got up!

I felt so productive (and exhausted). The run went pretty well. Those last 3 miles felt like they dragged on forever though. I tried to just stay focused and keep good form. Here are the stats I finished with:

Marathon Training: Week 7

  • Distance: 14.02 miles
  • Time: 1:52:23 hr/min/sec
  • Pace: 8:00 min/mile
  • Calories: 912

I was definitely happy with my pace. This week’s long run is 15 miles so hopefully it won’t be too bad. This week is going to be super busy! We’re moving on Tuesday then going to Thailand on Saturday. It’ll be  a little tough to train there. If we stay in places with gyms then it would probably be fine. Obviously since it’s my honeymoon, going to the gym is not going to be a priority. It might be fun to try and run outside too, although I know the temperature there has been in the 90’s!

Do you stay on your workout schedule when you travel? Or is it strictly vacation time?

Hope you all had a great weekend!

Congrats on a speedy 14 miles! Do you run around Katy Trail area or White Rock for long runs? I have 9 to do in the morning…I think it’s supposed to be cold!

Are y’all moving in the same area?

We were on our wedding/honeymoon trip through Europe for over 3 weeks – we rode bikes, went on long walks and stayed active, but no formal workouts…we were on the move a lot!

    Very exciting about Thailand!
