sticky rice with mango

I believe this is a pretty traditional thai dessert (at least in the north). It’s sticky rice with coconut milk and mango…it’s delicious! We haven’t been waiting to eat it for dessert we basically eat it whenever we see it. They also serve it with durian which is the infamous stinky asian fruit.

In Bangkok

This is us on Koh Sahn (?) road in Bangkok. This street has tons of bars and is definitly the backpacker/hippie scene. If you saw the movie, “The Beach,” this is where Leo hangs out. It’s definitely a party scene.

Thai cooking school

We took an awesome thai cooking class the other day. We made a lot of different dishes including pad thai, panang curry, spring rolls, chicken satay, and tom yum soups. It was a lot of fun! We learned a lot about thai cooking and it felt very authentic since it was taught by a brother/sister pair at their house.

playin' with my tiger buddy!

We went to a place called Tiger Kingdom here in Chiang Mai. It’s a bit of a touristy scene, but there’s good reason for it: you get to play with tigers. Tigers of every size! We chose small and large tigers. The small tigers were super cute. We weren’t that intimidated by them (although I’m sure they could mess us up if they wanted to). The big tigers on the other hand were very intimidating. The guides in the cage instructed us to pat them hard… we did it but we were definitely starting to sweat from being nervous at that point.

big boy

They were laying down the entire time we were in the cage. But there were a few momements where they moved or made noises, even one point where he turned around and stared at me. Kind of nerve racking…but we made it out alive! It was very cool!!

That’s my Thailand update so far! We’re leaving Chiang Mai tomorrow and heading to central Thailand…hopefully we’ll see some monkeys!
