Mangolicious

‘Twas the night before my 20 mile run….and all through the house…there was 1 creature stirring…mostly because she has to wake up at 6 am and run 20 miles tomorrow!! Ahhhh! This is a scary story, I forgot to mention that part.

This week has been a countdown to the dreaded morning of 20 miles (tomorrow!). I’ve made it through all my runs this week (haven’t done today’s yet). I was basically supposed to do 15 miles on top of the 20 (15 broken up into 5 mile runs). I ran 5 yesterday, 5 the day before, and today I plan on doing 3, then 2 on Sunday.

Cliff won’t be here in the morning so it’s up to me and my alarm clock to get out of bed! I’m planning on setting it far away so I have to get up! Tomorrow’s basically my only day I can do my 20 miles so it’s now or never! Just one more long run..then I’m set!!

Here were my stats from yesterday’s run:

Marathon Training: Week 16

  • Distance: 5 miles
  • Pace: 8:25 min/sec
  • Time: 42: 05 min/sec
  • Calories: 433

I was definitely slower yesterday than the day before. I wasn’t really feelin’ yesterday’s run: my tummy hurt and it was hot and windy. So I walked a little throughout the run. I just wanted to get that distance done!

After my run, I made a new protein shake with frozen mango! I love mango’s so I decided to buy a bag of frozen chunks the other day for smoothies.

Here were the ingredients for yesterday’s smoothie!

Mango Protein Shake

  • handful of frozen mango chunks
  • scoop of vanilla protein powder
  • 1/2 cup fat free milk
  • half a banana

Good stuff! This was sort of tropical, definitely a good summer smoothie.

Just to update you on my personal life, I did successfully quit my job last night. There was no throwing me out or yelling involved either so it was pretty pleasant. I hate quitting jobs. It literally feels like you’re breaking up with someone, because, I guess you sort of are. I remember quitting my first “real” job as a sales representative and I started crying on the phone with my boss. I tried so hard not to because ya know, I’m an adult and a professional (apparently). My boss was so sweet about it though, he said, “I know, it’s hard…it’s like a break up.” It really is! It’s not you, it’s me! Well, it’s also a little bit you…but mostly me!

Anyway, it’s done! Time to start packing and looking forward. The next few weeks are going to be crazy busy! Marathon and move in 1 week! Yikes! Almost like moving and flying to Thailand in the same week :).

Have a great weekend!!
